The Enduring Breath (2024)
This installation consists of red balloons filled with water, placed between concrete blocks and connected by red yarn. The contrast between the solidity of the concrete and the fragility of the balloons creates a state of tension. The balloons symbolize life and the human body, while the red threads evoke blood vessels and traces of human relationships that extend through space.
As time passes, the water inside the balloons gradually evaporates, causing the balloons to shrink and transform in form. Subjected to both external pressure and the passage of time, the balloons contract and wither, revealing the fragility, instability, and finitude of human existence.
Through the evaporation of water, the force of gravity, and the effects of pressure, the work visualizes the weight of life, the passage of time, and the process of disappearance. By placing a fragile form of life within a rigid structure, the installation reflects on how human existence is shaped and transformed through relationships and the environments it inhabits.
견디는 숨 (2024)
콘크리트 블록 사이에 물을 담은 붉은 풍선을 배치하고, 붉은 털실로 서로 연결하여 구성한 설치 작업이다. 단단한 콘크리트와 연약한 풍선은 서로 대비되며 긴장 관계를 형성한다. 풍선은 생명과 신체를 상징하고, 붉은 실은 혈관이나 관계의 흔적처럼 공간 속을 연결한다.
시간이 경과함에 따라 풍선 속의 물은 서서히 증발하고, 풍선의 부피는 점차 줄어들며 형태가 변화한다. 외부의 압력과 시간의 흐름 속에서 풍선은 수축하고 쪼그라들며, 인간 존재의 유한성과 불안정성을 드러낸다.
이 작업은 물의 증발과 중력, 압력의 관계를 통해 삶의 무게와 시간의 흐름, 그리고 소멸의 과정을 시각화한다. 견고한 구조와 연약한 생명체가 공존하는 장면을 통해 인간 존재가 관계와 환경 속에서 형성되고 변화하는 과정을 탐구한다.
