Every object has its own frequency. In physics, resonance is a phenomenon in which a vibrating system drives another external force to oscillate with greater amplitude at specific frequencies. The power can even collapse buildings and bridges. Human beings also have personality, temperament, dignity, and given circumstances. We are always exposed to external influences. Certain wavelength can always be caused. I expressed the human frequency phenomenon shaken by the one of external environment with soaking and spreading effect of ink. The overlay of repeated work of soaking and spreading various colors on Korean paper shows the life of a human in a controlled space. These repetitive tasks indulge me to reflect on the meaning of life and to have my own time for thoughts. Natural wavelength of human being creates the color and shape line, and the changes of line and color shapes that are imbibed by external frequencies create another color and shape line. I covered Korean paper onto an aluminum that was cut with scissors to a shape of human and painted it. The element that exists in the space comes into contact with the body part that's on earth and permeates and spreads on until the water evaporates leaving only traces. Repetition of soaking, smearing, and evaporation are performed around the surrounding body at a definite time. I deal mainly with measuring the meaning of life. I express questions about what humans are and who I am through artwork. I make the spectators give a thought to the meaning of life in this repetitive world as a squirrel would run on a treadmill, layers of distressing agony and complicated tangled up relationship between people. This work is to express the figure of human beings tilting its head from being affected by external circumstances. The slantwise shape of human form doubts the purpose of life. Topics of human life that can be changed by external factors are always in my interests because people are living in different circumstances under the repercussion of the surrounding environment. People are influenced by everything around them and we take that to question individual's way of life in their own ways of existence. The combination of these external circumstances is expressed as happiness and misfortune, joy and sorrow, tears and laughter, and enables one to question, "What's the purpose of being born here." The process of this work is to blend multiple lines and repeatedly paint colors on the slantwise human figure made of rice paper that seems to question the meaning of life and the blurring phenomenon piles up on the edges of the doubting figure. The repetition of soaking and spreading ink expresses the human agony of life. (2017) The shape, color and length are different, but the figure of a human being is the same essential. Yet the gap, differences, distances, relationships, consciousness of objects, filled spaces are different. As people get older, they go to school, get a job, get married, and live by the rules. They lose themselves along the way trapped in illusion that it is an arbitrary choice. Human being moves as the inertia of society Gravity causes the body figure to be penetrated downward (Permeate) from the outside while also blurring upward (Spread). The external moisture effect is dried by time and disappears (Evaporate). Depending on the amount of water and time of brushing, traces of smearing appear on the rim of cogitation. The line of the middle bulge that makes the human form gradually disappears in the process of coloring it. The lines become blurred and unclear like I had lost myself in modern society and could not recognize who I was. More and more, I lose myself and leave only the traces of life like human thoughts, the border of figures, and annual ring of trees. When you stop breathing in the process of coloring human shape by controlling the brush depth, a beating of life spreads at a point of the body’s frame. The blank space on the screen and the shape of the tilted head of a person placed on it shows a human being making a journey of loneliness in modern society. (2018) Layers of lines piled up on the middle bulge, shape of a tilted head of someone, and the process of overlaying light colors on the body form, is like people, being measured on the weight of life and always tilting its head about the meaning of life. 모든 물체는 고유의 주파수가 있다. 특정 진동수를 가진 물체가 같은 진동수의 힘이 외부에 가해질 때 진폭이 커지면서 에너지가 증가하는 현상을 공진이라 한다. 그 힘은 건물이나 다리 또한 붕괴해 버린다. 인간 또한 개인의 성격 성질 품격 주어진 환경을 가지고 있다. 인간은 항상 외적 영향에 노출되어 있다. 항상 어떤 파장을 일으킬 수 있다. 나는 인간이 가지고 있는 주파수가 외적 환경 주파수에 의해 흔들리는 현상을 수묵의 스밈과 번짐 효과로 표현했다.
한지에 채색 작업은 반복적으로 스미고 번지고 스미고 번지고 중첩된 변화된 색들은 제한된 공간 안에서 한 인간의 삶을 나타내고 있다. 이러한 반복된 작업은 삶의 의미를 되새겨보는 시간을 갖고 나만의 사색의 시간을 가지는 것이다. 색과 형태 선들은 한 인간의 고유 주파수를 만들어 내고 외적 주파수에 의해 스며든 선과 색 형태들의 변화는 또 다른 색과 형태 선을 만들어낸다. 가위로 오려진 인간의 형상을 한 알루미늄에 한지로 붙이고 그 위에 채색 작업을 했다. 공간 속에 존재에 있는 요소들과 접촉되어 대지에 있는 몸통에 스며들고 번지고 그 물기는 증발하여 흔적만 남긴다. 주변에 있는 몸통도 반복과 스밈, 번짐, 증발의 차이로 한정된 시간까지 반복적으로 행해진다.
나는 삶의 의미를 측정하는 작업을 주로 다룬다. 이는 "인간은 무엇인가?" "나는 누구인가?" 에 대한 물음을 작업을 통해서 표현하는 것이다. 나는 관객들에게 다람쥐들이 쳇바퀴 돌리는 것처럼 반복되는 삶, 겹겹이 쌓여가는 고뇌, 복잡하게 엉켜진 인간관계 속에서 삶의 의미를 생각하게 해 본다. 나는 외적 상황에 영향을 받아 갸우뚱해진 인간의 형상을 표현하기 위해 이 작업을 만들어 냈다. 좌우로 살짝 갸우뚱거리는 인간의 형상은 삶에 대한 목적이 무엇인지 의문을 가지고 있다. 나는 외부적 환경에 의해 변해가는 인간의 삶에 대한 주제에 관심을 가지고 있다. 왜냐하면 인간은 외적 환경의 영향 속에 각기 다른 상황 속에서 삶을 살아가고 있다. 주변의 모든 것에 영향을 받고 그것과 결합하여 각자의 삶의 방식으로 삶에 대한 의문을 갖는다. 이런 외적 상황과의 결합은 행복과 불행, 기쁨과 슬픔, 눈물과 웃음으로 표현 되고 "나는 이곳에 무엇을 하러 태어났나?" 물음을 가지게 된다. 이 작업을 하는 과정은 인간의 형상을 여러 선으로 겹겹이 칠하고 삶의 의문을 갖고있는 인간의 형상에 색을 반복적으로 칠하면 화선지의 번짐 현상에 의해 삶의 의문을 가지고 있는 인간의 형상의 테두리에 번짐 현상이 중첩되어 쌓인다. 이런 스밈과 번짐의 반복은 삶에 대한 인간의 고뇌를 표현한 것이다. 모양, 색깔, 길이가 다르지만 인간이라는 공통된 본질은 같다. 간격, 차이, 거리, 관계, 사물에 대한 의식, 채워져 있는 공간은 다르다.
나이가 들면 학교를 가고 직장을 얻고 결혼을 하고 정해진 틀에서 살아간다. 자신을 잊게 만들고 자의적 선택이라는 착각을 일으킨다. 사회의 관성으로 움직이는 인간 중력에 의해 아래로 향해 있는 몸통은 외부적 영향(스밈)에 의해 스며들고 번짐현상으로 위로 향해(번짐)간다. 물기가 있는 외부적 영향은 시간에 의해 건조되어 소멸(증발)한다. 물의 양과 붓질의 시간 차이에 따라 사유의 테두리에 나타나는 번짐의 흔적이 나타난다. 인간의 형태를 형성하는 중봉의 선은 형태의 선을 채색하는 과정에서 점점 사라져 버린다. 마치 현대 사회 속에 나를 잃어버린 것처럼 내가 누구인지 인식하지 못하고 선들은 채색 되어지면서 모호하게 되어버린다. 점점 더 나를 잃어 버리고 인간의 사유, 형상의 테두리, 나무의 나이테처럼 삶의 흔적만 남겨진다. 인간의 형상에 농담을 조절하여 붓질을 하여 채색하는 과정에서 호흡을 멈추었을 때 그 상태는 그 상황은 몸틀 어느 부분에서 멈춰 삶의 울림이 펴진다. 화면에서 여백과 여백에 놓여진 갸우뚱한 인간의 형상은 한 인간이 현대 사회에서 외로움과의 여정을 하는 것이다. 겹겹이 쌓여가는 중봉의 선과 갸우뚱한 인간의 형상, 몸틀에 연한 색채를 중첩해 칠해가는 과정은 인간이 삶에 대한 무게에 측정 당하는 것으로 삶에 대해 항상 고개를 갸우뚱한다. 한지에 스미고 번지고 증발하는 것은 태어남 그리고 삶과 죽음의 짧은 인생을 표현한것이다. 한지 위에 인간의 형상 몸틀테두리에 겹겹이 번짐의 흔적은 남아있다. 고강필
